In recent years, the Curtatone Municipal Library has been able to transform, becoming much more than a simple place to borrow books. Today it is a real “social library”, a lively and dynamic point of reference that welcomes every citizen, of all ages, offering opportunities for meeting, learning and fun.
The library has become a place where bonds are built and passions cultivated: an environment capable of listening, understanding and responding to the needs of all of us. As the IFLA UNESCO Manifesto points out, libraries are creators of communities and this is precisely the spirit that animates the Curtatone library. Here we value every person, promote culture and make a concrete contribution to improving the quality of our daily lives.
For this reason, every year the library offers initiatives designed for all age groups and all tastes: from reading projects with local schools and associations, to meetings and workshops dedicated to young people; from special days such as “Thanks in celebration” with writers and illustrators, to moments of play and sociality such as the Christmas library and the used book market.
But the library is also a place of welcome and support: meetings with new parents, delivery of the gift book, collaborations with local realities thanks to the Reading Pact, signed to protect and promote reading in our city.
In 2022, the library renovated its spaces, expanding them and making them even more welcoming, especially for children and teenagers, with a room designed to stimulate curiosity and creativity. A place to feel at home, where every citizen can feel an active part of a community that grows together.
Thanks to this daily and shared commitment, Curtatone has received the important award of “City that Reads” for the three-year period 2024-2026, a pride that testifies to how culture and reading are fundamental values for our community.
The Curtatone Municipal Library is not only a place of books, but a place of life, an engine of relationships and opportunities, designed and created for you, for every citizen who believes in the power of words and in the importance of being together.
