There are times in life when even the simplest of gestures can become difficult. A medical check-up, medication, qualified advice. For some people, accessing these services can be complicated, for economic, social reasons or simply because of the difficulty of moving from home.
For this reason, since 2017, the Municipality of Curtatone has chosen to be close to its most fragile citizens, guaranteeing a health service accessible to everyone. Thanks to the collaboration with the Curtatone Volunteer Association, two free doctor-nursing clinics are active, one on New Year's Eve and one in Buscoldo. Here, every day, volunteer doctors and nurses make their professionalism available to offer care and assistance to those who need it most.
It's not just about numbers, it's about people. Behind every performance there is a story, a need, a request for help that is answered. Lonely elderly people, people with disabilities, families in financial difficulty, new mothers who are looking for support in the first months with their child. Every visit, every medication, every advice becomes a concrete sign of closeness and solidarity.
In the clinics it is possible to check blood pressure and blood sugar, receive medications, remove stitches, access injection therapies on medical prescription and have fundamental information on managing your health.
Specifically:
- Blood pressure and heart rate measurement
- Blood sugar measurement and glycemic testing education
- Urinalysis · Dressings and stitch removal
- Administration of intramuscular therapy (on prescription)
- Administration of intravenous therapy (on prescription)
- Bladder catheter application and removal
- Ostomy Management Education
- Social and health advice and telephone support
Care for new mothers: breastfeeding support and newborn careFor those who cannot move from home, treatment comes directly to the home, breaking down the physical and social barriers that often make the illness even heavier to deal with.
In 2024, 744 services were provided, 541 outpatient services and 203 home care services. Behind these numbers are faces, outstretched hands, reassuring smiles. There are volunteers who dedicate their time and experience to guarantee everyone the right to health. There is the will of a community that leaves no one behind, that believes in the value of care, of presence, of attention for others.
This service exists so that no one should feel alone. Because health is a precious asset and belongs to everyone. So that every citizen of Curtatone can count on concrete, human and competent support.
