THE SEISMIC IMPROVEMENT OF THE “POPE JOHN XXIII” PRIMARY SCHOOL IS UNDERWAY

Interventions for the security of school buildings in the Municipality of Curtatone continue. In 2023, the executive project for the seismic improvement of the “Pope John XXIII” Primary School in the hamlet of San Silvestro was approved.

The intervention, funded entirely with PNRR funds for a total of 1,855,000.00€, has as its primary objective to guarantee a safer and more protected environment for students and school staff, allowing children and teachers to be able to live and work in an environment that respects the highest safety standards. It is a fundamental step in building a school that is not only modern, but also resilient, able to withstand any seismic events without compromising the safety of those who live there on a daily basis.
In detail, the planned interventions are:
  • The creation of a “seismic coat”, an external exo-envelope that will guarantee resistance to horizontal pressures on the walls.
  • The installation of a steel lattice inside the floors, connected to the existing perimeter curbs, to increase the stability of the structure.

The work is part of the seismic adjustment plan for public buildings and, in addition to improving safety, aims to protect and protect future generations, offering them school spaces where they can grow, learn and socialize without worries. Investing in the safety of school buildings means investing directly in the future of our children, offering them an environment in which they can feel safe and concentrate peacefully on their studies and activities.

The work is scheduled to end in September 2025.

A concrete step towards the protection of students and school staff, which underlines the importance of investing in the safety and quality of educational facilities, so that schools are not only places of learning, but also safe and protected environments in which children can grow up in peace.
