At the heart of the celebrations for the 170th anniversary of the Battle of Curtatone and Montanara, a profoundly symbolic and meaningful ceremony took place: the presentation of the Curtatone and Montanara Prize to Dr. Franco Gabrielli, Prefect of Rome and former Chief of Police.
The award was conceived and created by the artist and master craftsman Dante Mortet, who gave shape to a unique object of its kind: “the Witness”. Not a simple commemorative sculpture, but a symbol to be handed down over time. An object designed to tell and preserve the memory of a fundamental historical event and, at the same time, to pass from hand to hand, carrying with it the values of courage, commitment and love for the country.
The ceremony represented the culmination of the celebrations, confirming the value of the initiative and the desire to give new life to a founding date in our history. The award was conceived as an annual recognition to personalities who have distinguished themselves for their contribution to the good of the country, inaugurating a new tradition.
With the first edition, the Curtatone and Montanara Prize opens a journey made of memory, commitment and gratitude, where history is present and continues to inspire the future.
