Carlo Bottani - Mayor - City of Curtatone
I am Carlo Bottani, mayor of the city of Curtatone, a historic city of art, culture, economy and spirituality and above all to Grazie, on the ancient Feast of the Assumption of August 15 and throughout the year, the cradle of spirituality and madonnara art in the world. The acquaintance with doctor and friend Pasquale Nestico dates back a couple of years and this has helped us a lot to grow through the International Academy of Lyric Singing with Maestro Daniele Anselmi and above all, he is vice-president of the Committee of Honor Ismaele Voltolini, a Mantuan tenor in the world. Thanks to Pasquale, we will be able to bring ever more culture, friendship and economy and act as a bridge between the Italians of America and the motherland. With Pasquale Nestico this will always be easier.
Daniele Anselmi - Artistic Director - Giuseppe Verdi Theater - City of Curtatone
On a very important occasion two years ago we met Dr. Pasquale Nestico, and we immediately understood that our intentions, our ideals were common, especially with regard to art and musical culture in general. We immediately fraternized and understood that he could be an important person for the collaboration of this great competition that we have in the context of the theater that is the Ismaele Voltolini competition. He immediately understood the importance of this initiative and then this year he participated precisely from an active point of view, donating the scholarship for the first prize. On this occasion, an Honorary Committee was created, of which he became vice-president. We are very happy to have met Dr. Pasquale Nestico, a truly cultured man, an important man, a man who knows how to bring Italianness to the world and above all he knows how to bring the most important artistic and cultural aspects. We hope that this collaboration will last over time.
Daniele Marconcini - President - Mantovani in the world
I am here representing the Pasquale Nestico Foundation in Philadelphia in the United States, which sponsored the last Ismaele Voltolini award, and I also represent Filitalia International, which is also a Philadelphia-based foundation, of which I am the vice-president, as well as president of the Mantovans of the world. So the echo will certainly be international, because in the United States we are doing a great deal of publicity to the activities of the Accademia della Lirica di Curtatone. I really thank Maestro Anselmi for regaining his memory and for valuing our Mantuan tenor. I thank the municipal administration in the figure of Mayor Bottani and all the friends I am meeting and meeting in this wonderful adventure that starts from Mantua and that of course we will travel around the world. Obviously, opera is one of the elements, the best ambassador for Italian culture and I am extremely pleased that in addition to having an emigration of Italians abroad, we also have a cultural emigration to Italy of all these young talents who come from countries like Korea and Japan. I think this is an episode of a long journey to enhance Italian culture and to create those elements of cultural union that we desperately need instead of walls, as the mayor always says, we build bridges

Curtatone, Pasquale Nestico and the art of opera

The collaboration between the City of Curtatone and Dr. Pasquale Nestico represents an extraordinary opportunity to strengthen cultural ties between Italy and the Italian-American community. A friendship born a few years ago, which today translates into concrete initiatives in the artistic and musical fields, with positive repercussions on the entire Mantuan territory.

The Mayor Carlo Bottani emphasized the central role of the city of Curtatone as a cradle of spirituality and art, in particular in the hamlet of Grazie, famous for the historic Feast of the Assumption and for the art of Madonna. Precisely in this context, the agreement with Dr. Nestico, a leading figure in the American cultural and philanthropic scene, took shape, who today actively contributes to the enhancement of Italian culture in the world.

The key element of the collaboration is the International Academy of Opera Singing, led by Maestro Daniele Anselmi, Artistic Director of the Teatro Verdi. The project has found a passionate supporter in Nestico, so much so that it led him to establish a scholarship for the winner of the Ismaele Voltolini Competition, dedicated to the great Mantuan tenor. A gesture that testifies to his deep bond with the territory and his desire to support young opera talents.

The creation of a Committee of Honor, of which Nestico is now vice-president, further reinforces the common vision of a shared cultural project, capable of uniting different peoples, generations and sensitivities through the universal language of music.

Confirming the international reach of this alliance is also the support of the Pasquale Nestico Foundation and Filitalia International, represented by Daniele Marconcini, who together with the Mantovani nel Mondo association is helping to promote the Academy and the competition at a global level.

At a time when walls are built too often, a clear message starts from Curtatone: culture is the strongest bridge between peoples. A bridge that, thanks to this synergy, is destined to grow and to carry away the voice and values of Italy.
