The exhibition programme at the Museo dei Madonnari in Curtatone continues, serving as a hub for this ephemeral art form, which has found its most authentic home in Grazie.
Following official recognition by the Lombardy Region last December — marked by an exhibition dedicated to Maestra Simona Lanfredi Sofia, accompanied by guided tours and workshops — the museum is preparing to host another major event.
On Holy Saturday, 4 April, at 11 am, the solo exhibition by Maestra Madonnara Mariangela Cappa will be inaugurated, curated by the Museum’s director Paola Artoni, with the exhibition design created by the madonnari Andrea Grespi and Claudio Pirisi.
The exhibition offers a journey through a cycle of the artist’s works, drawn partly from the museum’s collection and partly from her studio, enriched by several precious, previously unseen pieces.
Originally from Guidizzolo, Mariangela Cappa lives and works in Ceresara. Following her artistic training and specialisation in the conservation and maintenance of works of art at the Santa Paola Institutes in Mantua, she has carved out a highly significant career within the Madonnari scene. Since 1990, she has been a leading figure at the Madonnari Gathering in Grazie, where she has won the gold medal three times in the Master Madonnari category (2007, 2011 and 2016).
